Need to pay something quick?

Make Fast Payments with Osko® and PayID® no matter the time, day or night.
We all have been through it, when you forget your wallet and need to pay back that friend who paid for your lunch; or when you are out enjoying a nice meal and splitting the bill is too much work. That’s when Fast Payments come in.

Fast Payments with Osko

Fast Payments are powered by New Payments Platform (NPP) and Osko. Ideal for small payments, emergencies, or in person arrangements when you don’t have any cash on you, the Fast Payments feature allows you to make and receive payments in less than a minute in most instances, 24/7 including weekends and public holidays*.
To make it easier to track, you can include descriptions up to 280 characters for detailed payment information and future recollection.

Making and receiving Fast Payments is safe

Quick, easy, convenient, and safe. Fast Payments are protected by our real-time transaction monitoring. However, as with any banking transactions, it’s important that you work with us and take precautions to help reduce the likelihood of mistakes and potential fraud on your account. Especially with Fast Payments where transactions are typically completed in less than a minute, it is crucial that you remain mindful and attentive to details when paying someone, so you can keep your funds safe. Once you make the payment it cannot be cancelled once the final authorisation has been completed and the chances of recovery are very limited.

Fast Payments Transaction Limits

When making Fast Payments, the combined daily limit across your accounts is $5000 and the faster payment only works if the receiving financial institution is also registered with New Payment Platforms (NPP) and Osko to have the technical capability to process payments fast. However, these limits do not apply for receiving funds via Fast Payments.

Fast Payments are available for any single transaction made via our NetBanking or mobile app. You’ll know your money has been scheduled to be sent fast if you see the Osko logo on the type of transaction selected when doing your bank transfer. If you don’t see the Osko logo, your payment will be processed in the normal manner and follow our standard processing times.

Start Your Fast Payments Today

To start making Fast Payments today, follow the prompts when completing a transaction:

If using NetBanking;

  • Click on ‘Payments’ on the top menu.
  • Select ‘Transfer Money’ from the dropdown menu.
  • Choose the account you wish to use for the money transfer/payment and add a new payee to receive the payment. The details of the payee could be a BSB and Account number, or a PayID such as mobile number or email.
  • Select the way in which the payment will be sent. If using a BSB and Account number; ‘Standard Transfer’ or ‘Osko’. Payment using PayID is Osko only.
  • Proceed to add the transfer/payment details.
  • Click ‘Next’ to review your payments details and confirm your transaction.

If using our mobile app;

  • Click on menu at the top left of your mobile app screen.
  • Select the option ‘Pay’ from the dropdown menu or click on ‘Pay’ at the bottom of your mobile app screen.
  • Choose the option ‘Pay Anyone’.
  • To add a new Payee, click on ‘New’ and proceed to save the details whether a BSB and Account Number or a PayID. If an existing Payee, simply select their name.
  • Click on ‘Choose Pay Type’ to swap payment type between ‘Osko’ and ‘Standard Payment’.
  • Add your payment details and review transaction details before confirming payment.

Standard Payments can take from a few hours to a few days to be completed. Fast Payments often take less than a minute, therefore the importance of carefully checking the payment details before confirming your transaction as mistaken payments may not be possible to recover.

  • Can I make a Fast Payment at an SCCU Financial Service Centre or via call centre?

Fast Payments are not available to be process from our Financial Service Centres or Customer Service Centre. The Fast Payments/Osko option is only available for transactions completed via NetBanking and/or SCCU mobile app.

  • Can I make/receive Fast Payments using BSB and Account number?

The short answer is yes. Instead of using a PayID, you could make and receive payments fast as long as both financial institutions are registered with New Payment Platforms (NPP) and Osko have the technical capability to process payments fast.

  • Will the Periodical/Recurrent Payments I have set be completed via Fast Payments?

Any Periodical Payment established prior to 1st of August 2024 will continue to be sent as Standard Payments. If you wish for these payments to be sent as Fast Payments, you will need to cancel the existing recurrent payment and re-establish it as an Osko payment.

Your daily transaction limit has a bearing on creating and processing of regular scheduled payments. Talk to us if you need to increase your daily limit.

  • Can I set a Payee to receive Fast Payments only?

Yes, you can. When creating a new payee, you can choose to only save their PayID instead of also including their BSB and Account number. By doing this, the payee will automatically receive funds via Fast Payments whether it’s a single transaction or a recurrent payment.

If a payee is saved in the Address Book with both their PayID and BSB and Account number information, then you will have to choose the type of payment you wish to make, if a Fast Payment using Osko or if a Standard Transfer.

  • What happens if I pay the wrong person or business?

Fast Payments transactions are typically completed in less than a minute and that is why it is important to confirm you are paying the right person or business before confirming the payment.

Unfortunately, your payment cannot be cancelled once the final authorisation has been completed and the chances of recovery are very limited. In some cases, it is possible to ask the receiving bank to return funds sent to unintended recipients. Our chances to successfully retrieve any mistaken payments will depend on how long ago the transaction was completed.

After submitting a payment recall or trace request, we typically have an outcome within two weeks although in some cases it may take up to four weeks. A Fast Payment/NPP Recall fee may apply. See our Schedule of Fees & Charges.

  • What happens if my payment is rejected?

In the event of your Fast Payment being rejected, the funds for the rejected payment will be returned to your account almost immediately, and you will also receive a notification. The notification could be sent via secure message in NetBanking, SMS or email depending on how your contact details were recorded in our system.

Make Payments Easier with PayID®

PayID is a simpler alternative to a BSB and Account number. It lets you send and receive money  using a mobile number, email address, ABN or Organisation Identifier. Ideal for those who want to save time, make and receive Fast Payments via Osko using an easier-to-remember option for account identification.

When you send money to a PayID, you will see the name of the person or business you are paying before you complete the payment. This can help reduce mistaken or scam payments.
After you create your PayID, you can tell payers to make Fast Payments to your PayID instead of giving out your account details.

  • Give the payee a ‘Nickname’ so the payee is added to your Address Book for future use.

  • Proceed to add your payment details and confirm the PayID details are correct and linked to the name of intended recipient.
  • Add the payment amount and transaction message.
  • Make sure you are paying the correct person or business and select ‘Confirm’.

  • Are Fast Payments with PayID safe?

Fast Payments are protected by our real-time transaction monitoring, and we have various measures in place to help protect your account from frauds and scams.

However, it’s your responsibility to double-check the payee information before going ahead.
With PayID, you’ll see who you’re paying before you confirm your payment, so you’ll know your money is going to the right person or business. This can help avoid mistaken or scam payments.

PayID is a simpler alternative to BSB and Account number when transferring money, but it cannot be used to withdraw funds.

  • Does PayID replace my BSB and Account?

PayID doesn’t replace your BSB and Account number. It is just an easier alternative to offer you more convenience when making or receiving Fast Payments. For all other transactions, your BSB and Account may be required.

  • Do I need a PayID per account?

Each PayID can only be registered to one eligible account. If you have more than one account and wish to have a PayID for each account, you will be required to create a different PayID for each account. For example, if you have used your mobile number to create a PayID before, you will need to use an alternative mobile number or email address that is linked to your account.

The same procedure is applied to accounts in different banks/credit unions. If you have registered a PayID with a different financial institution before, you will need a different mobile number or email address linked to your account with us to be able to proceed.

However, you can link multiple PayIDs to the same account. If using a joint account, each user or any Authorised User can have a unique PayID linked to the same account.

  • Can I register another person’s details with PayID?

A PayID must be linked to the information under your name already listed to your account profile even if it’s a joint account.

When registering for PayID, you will be given options between the type of PayID you want to use such as your mobile number or email, for example. If you have a joint account, your partner will have options under their name.

  • What happens if my details show as already registered but I haven’t registered for PayID?

If your mobile number, email address, ABN or Organisation Identifier is showing as already registered and you don’t remember registering for PayID before, we first recommend you confirm if you have a PayID already registered with a different financial institution.

You can use an alternative PayID option to register a second PayID with us. If your mobile number is showing as already registered, you could proceed by using your email address, for example. Another alternative is to transfer or cancel the existing PayID with the previous financial institution and then register it again with us via NetBanking or mobile app.

The same procedure is requested if you have a PayID registered with SCCU and wish to transfer to another bank.
