Starting her career early at Westpac, Racheal brings with her over twenty years of experience and industry knowledge. Having led, mentored and coached teams as a branch manager, she now enjoys helping those looking at home ownership as an expert in residential home lending. With such diverse experience behind her, Rachael is able to help people navigate the pitfalls that so often happen when customer-first thinking isn’t front of mind. It’s one of the reasons she loves her jobs and gets to enjoy those special moments when someone steps into their new home. She knows the path is different for everyone and has also helped a lot of customers transition to SCCU, having been let down by others.
One of her favorite moments has been helping a husband and wife team secure their ‘dream home’ after missing out following a poor experience with another financial provider had left them feeling anxious and wary of the process of securing a home loan. Through Rachael’s innate desire to help customers and just listen, she was able to turn this experience around. They’re now equipped with the right home loan solution and know they can count on SCCU if they ever need help.

‘We recently approached Southern Cross Credit Union to investigate the refinancing of three home loans. We were referred to SCCU by our Local Surf Club – Cudgen Headland Surf Life Saving Club through the Community Rewards Partnership that they had recently entered into. We had been dealing with a couple of the ‘big four’ banks for the past 20 years.

As well as developing trusted partnerships with these local groups, Rachael and team members across SCCU don’t hesitate to roll up their sleeves and volunteer time at their events, like surf carnivals, whenever they need more help on the ground. Rachael and the team are happy to support local community groups however they can.
Rachael and teammate Tara, (Branch Manager at Tweed Heads), are also the creators of the professional networking ‘supergroup’ for women after identifying a gap in the local landscape and a need to support female leaders. The ‘supergroup’ meets regularly to connect women from Kingscliff and surrounding areas, across a range of industries and expertise. The group also attends Women in Business functions together, and aim to empower others looking to strive.
Rachael also enjoys sharing her knowledge and representing SCCU, and was one of the keynote speakers at the iOnTheFuture5 ‘Into the Deep’ event. The event itself attracted 550 teachers from 120 schools and featured Larry Rosenstock, Founder/CEO High Tech High USA and Libby Woodfin, Director of Publications EL Education.
When Rachael isn’t at work she enjoys time with her two boys and her husband. Her youngest loves to play football and cricket, and the eldest, loves to mountain bike in the state forests. ‘Needless to say, she’s always up for a coffee, welcoming the caffeine and shares her time between Tweed, Kingsliff and Cabarita, so if you’re in the area – pop in!
