Southern Cross Credit Union has pulled their community partners together for one major impact event in Kingscliff – and the general public is invited.
This Clean Up Australia Day (CUAD) on Sunday 5th March 2023 will see Southern Cross Credit Union (SCCU), Positive Change For Marine Life (PCFML), Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital (BBWH), Australian Seabird and Turtle Rescue (ASTR), and Cudgen Headland Surf Life Saving Club (CHSLSC) come together to manage a special Clean Up Australia Day event on the beautiful Kingscliff foreshore.
All members of the community are invited to get involved with collecting litter and conducting an audit of the findings to help keep rubbish out of the ocean and contribute to conservation research. Participants will also have a chance to learn more about the impact litter has on wildlife from the incredible Australian Seabird and Turtle Rescue and Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital teams.
“CUAD is a great opportunity to bring the local community together and we are proud to be a part of it. We hope that by organising this event we can raise awareness around the importance of healthy waterways and reducing rubbish on our beaches, creeks and oceans. We are very excited to collaborate with so many amazing local organisations to give the community a chance to learn about the impact rubbish has on wildlife, and what they can do to help,” Lauren Morgan, PCFML adds.
SCCU Community and Sponsorship Specialist, Cassie Nicole shares “This event is a special one. It is the first time we have brought out community partners together to collaborate on a major event that will make a real difference. Collaboration is key when we look towards maximum impact and each one of our partners values sustainability as highly as we do. Each organisation has a level of expertise we’ve been able to leverage to ensure this event delivers a strong result for the Kingscliff area, and we’re excited to invite the public, our staff and our customers to be a part of this with us. We look forward to working together on many more collaborative projects.”
The event will be held at Rowan Robinson Park from 9am-11am on the 5th March. Free coffee will be provided to the first 20 volunteers to arrive with a refillable cup at the local Choux String shop as an extra incentive for the day. Get involved, make a difference, and join the teams coming together this Clean Up Australia Day.
