A look at our 2020 Community Goals Partners – Sth Lismore Celtic Football Club Edition!

A club with a proud history dating back to 1946, the South Lismore Celtic Football Club have a strong reputation for developing junior footballers and allowing them to maximise their potential.

Enjoyment, respect, reaching potential, commitment and dedication are the values on which this club has built its foundation, and drives their continued efforts in support of community.

Committee and Club Members work tirelessly and passionately to maintain the clubhouses and playing facilities in the region, to bring people together. It’s not always easy and every little bit helps, which is why the Club is one of SCCU’s Community Goals partners for 2020,  joining forces with our with our Lismore Financial Service Centre (FSC) to drive votes and hopefully a big win that will make all the difference.

Community Goals gives every new SCCU customer the opportunity to have their say, and cast a vote to support one of 8 Community Goals Groups, with South Lismore Celtic Football Club representing Lismore. The group with the most number of votes at the end of the year will earn $5,000, second place $2,500 third place $1,500, and the remaining groups receive a minimum of $500. There’s lots of opportunity also for some friendly competition, with each FSC partnering with a local community group to raise votes and awareness about their work, purpose and aspirations.

FSC Manager Kass Whaite is passionate about the new Goals program saying, “Partnering with South Lismore Celtic Football Club means supporting a grassroots football club that has been a part of the Lismore community for over 70 years. The physical benefits that come from playing sport, the friends you make and the affect this all has on a person’s overall health and wellbeing is incredible. Supporting an organisation that can bring so much joy and positivity into a person’s life is why SCCU Lismore has partnered with South Lismore Celtic Football Club this year.”

Equally as important is what it means for our Goals Partners and locals who get the chance to do something in support of the wider community, and groups they know and love. While one vote may not seem like much, at the end of the year it could mean $5,000 and a chance to make things better, grow, and easier for everyone involved.

“The South Lismore Celtic Football is very pleased to partner with the Southern Cross Credit Union. We feel our values closely align and centre on being an integral part of our local community. Giving back to our players and supporters is very important to us and giving back is something that Southern Cross Credit Union very obviously do in our local community.

During the recent lockdown period it was notable that the SCCU was open and ready to assist people with all their banking needs, with friendly smiles and positivity through a difficult time.

As the ‘Australian Mutual of the Year’, it is obvious that many people agree that the Southern Cross Credit Union is doing an excellent job for their customers and we are so happy to be partnering with them in 2020.” shares Clare from Sth Lismore Celtics.
