The Gold Coast Bodyboard Club (GCBC) is a community based, non-profit organisation that aims to enable children and adults of all ages and abilities to experience competition bodyboarding.
The club is run by members and volunteers who dedicate their personal time for the sport they love. With events and competitions on every month from March through to November, Bodyboarders from all walks of life have the opportunity to come together in a fun, safe & supervised environment.
Club Members are always brainstorming new ways to showcase bodyboarding in our region, and work hard to deliver events and coaching opportunities to benefit the health and wellbeing of all members of our community. These events generate a lot of local interest, which is why the Club is one of SCCU’s Community Goals partners for 2020, joining forces with our with our Tweed City Financial Service Centre (FSC) to drive votes and hopefully take out the top prize to allow them to continue to do so much more.
Community Goals gives every new SCCU customer the opportunity to have their say, and cast a vote to support one of 8 Community Goals Groups, with Gold Coast Bodyboard Club representing Tweed. The group with the most number of votes at the end of the year will earn $5,000, second place $2,500 third place $1,500, and the remaining groups receive a minimum of $500. There’s lots of opportunity also for some friendly competition, with each FSC partnering with a local community group to raise votes and awareness about their work, purpose and aspirations.
FSC Manager Tara Armbruster is in full support of GCBC and the events they bring to the Tweed saying, “SCCU Tweed is proud to support the GC Bodyboard Club to help promote our shared values such as positive health and wellbeing for our local community, kids and families.”
Just as supportive of the Goals partnership is the GCBC President Silas Ganciar, who has big plans for what the $5,000 could do for the club and our community should GCBC finish on top of the voting tally this year.
“Gold Coast Bodyboard Club is fortunate to be partnered with Southern Cross Credit Union. Throughout last two years we were able to purchase a new generator for our monthly events, improving our communication and enabling us to engage with locals. It also helped us to add free health activities to locals in our Special Event Project to be host early 2021”. Silas B. Ganciar – Gold Coast Bodyboard Club President
